When will Plastic Surgery be resuming at Coco Ruby Plastic Surgery?
Every patient and the prospective patient wants to know when surgery will be resuming. It is hard to predict.
- Stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne have been extended into October 2020. Elective Surgery will resume sometime after that.
- It is likely that surgery will be starting again with urgent and MBS item number procedures before resuming non-MBS item number procedures like cosmetic surgery.
- If you want to secure a future surgery booking may we suggest you start with a Virtual Consult asap.
- All Virtual Consults will be entitled to have a face-to-face consult when those become available.
When will Injectables like Dermal Filler with Sandra Wallace be resuming?
Stage 4 restrictions have been extended. If you want to be assured of an appointment post-lockdown – maybe late October or November would be a good time to book in.
When will Dermal Treatments be available?
After lockdown ends in Melbourne we will be offering scar treatments to postop patients then skin treatments to existing patients. Probably in late October or November. If you are in urgent need of advice, please call.
Clinic Safety
You must wear a Mask in Public and in the practice at all times.
Most people have probably read the below in some for over the recent weeks but we urge you to please take time to read the following;
- Monitor you’re health, be aware of any signs that you may not be well such as a cough, sore throat and/or fever.
- If you begin feeling unwell seek medical attention immediately.
- If you are showing signs of illness you will most likely need to self-quarantine until you are no longer showing any signs of illness.
- Wash your hands and use hand sanitisers regularly.
While the above may seem obvious, we ask everyone to take care of themselves. Avoid situations that put you in contact with large groups of people. Keep hydrated, eat well, get plenty of rest, and continue to practice good general hygiene habits.
Any Questions? Call us!
July 28 2020 – Coco Ruby Melbourne Clinic Status – Victorian elective surgeries suspended
A state of disaster has been declared in Victoria by Premier Andrews – we are now in Stage 4 Lockdown for the next 6 weeks. Only the most urgent and essential elective plastic surgery is to be undertaken. This precludes almost all elective plastic surgery.
Premier Andrews announced ‘with some regret’ that elective surgeries have been suspended, except for category one and the most urgent category two procedures. The suspensions will apply to public and private hospitals in Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire, which are under stage three restrictions. ‘This will free up beds and free up staff,’ he said.
Mr Andrews said the decision was made with ‘a sense of absolute urgency’ in order to ensure hospital staff were on hand to treat residents from aged care.
Currently Going ahead
- Virtual consultations with Surgeons
- Virtual post-op appointments (for recent surgery)
- Virtual Patient Review appointments
NOT currently available in Melbourne – Postponed indefinitely.
You must wear a Mask in Public and in the practice at all times.

- Wash your hands and use hand sanitisers regularly.
While the above may seem obvious, we ask everyone to take care of themselves. Avoid situations that put you in contact with large groups of people. Keep hydrated, eat well, get plenty of rest, and continue to practice good general hygiene habits.

May 25 2020 Coco Ruby Clinic Update – Elective Surgery Victoria
The state government has given the green light to increase elective surgery from 25 per cent of pre Covid19 levels – the limit imposed when the ban on most non-essential surgeries was partially lifted in late April – to 50 per cent by May 31, then 75 per cent by June 30. Depending on the number of COVID-19 cases as social-distancing restrictions ease, elective surgery could be restored to 100 per cent capacity at the end of July. However, please be aware that an increase of 110 per cent is needed to start clearing the backlog. Please be patient as we are adopting a “Low patient flow” in the clinic to ensure Covid-19 precautions are taken.

Injectables
Coco Ruby Plastic Surgery is now taking appointments for most injectables from June 1st 2020.
Please be patient as we are adopting a “Low patient flow” in the clinic to ensure COVID precautions are taken. All appointments cannot run longer than 30 minutes. We need to allow 15 minutes either side of an appointment for sterilisation as required by the government’s guidelines. Before your appointment, you will be required to fill out a COVID-19 questionnaire and have your temperature taken.
*Please see notes on attending the clinic for an appointment below. We are following ASAPS Covid-19 safe cosmetic injecting practices and have the following safety guidelines in place.
Dermal Treatments
We are currently unable to take bookings for Dermal treatments such as laser, peels, facials, skin needling etc. The only exception is post-operative scar treatments. Due to the back-log of surgical patients needing to attend the clinic, our waiting room will be at maximum capacity until further notice. Please be patient as we are adopting a “Low patient flow” in the clinic to ensure COVID precautions are taken.

April 21 2020 Coco Ruby Clinic Status Update
Scott Morrison has announced elective surgery could be lifted after the Anzac Day weekend. This does NOT mean an immediate return to ALL elective surgery. There will be a gradual return subject to capacity and specific hospital requirements dealing with CoVid19.
Firstly, only some procedures will be allowed. In a nutshell, this means if the surgery is threatening your health and needs to be performed within 90 days. Unfortunately, this does NOT mean plastic or cosmetic surgery, (except for breast reconstruction after cancer or implant rupture).
The following other surgeries WILL be allowed:
- IVF
- Screening programs (cancer and other diseases)
- Post cancer reconstruction procedures (such as breast reconstruction)
- Procedures for children under 18 years of age.
- Joint replacements (incl knees, hips, shoulders)
- Cataracts and eye procedures
- Endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures
Second, although the Government may relax the restrictions, each of the hospitals where we operate will also have their set of own restrictions. These restrictions are mostly related to the availability of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) – in other words, safety equipment to protect both staff and patients against the possibility of Covid-19 infections or transmission.
We will contact patients about their surgery dates as we get the relevant information from the government and our hospitals.
April 14 2020 Coco Ruby Clinic Status Update
Hello! A quick note regarding COVID19 and our practice.
Our Practice remains open remotely (virtually) to those who require post-operative care after recent surgery or any new patients considering surgery in the future.
Our Patient Events have been postponed until further notice, however, please register your interest so we can contact you with a new event date. Surgery will also resume as soon as the government lifts restrictions.
We appreciate your patience and can’t wait to see you all. Remember to stay safe, stay home and we’ll see you soon!
April 3rd 2020 Coco Ruby Clinic Status Update
All elective surgeries in Victoria have been suspended until further notice. We will now be offering virtual consultations only with our plastic surgeons.
March 25 2020 Coco Ruby Clinic Status Update
All non-urgent elective surgeries in Australia’s public and private hospitals have been cancelled from April 1st 2020, to help preserve PPE and the healthcare system in response to the coronavirus CoVid19 pandemic.
This has just been announced. Mr Morrison said, ”Cancellation of elective surgery will allow the preservation of resources like personal protective equipment and allow health services to prepare for their role in the COVID-19 outbreak.”
We are currently phoning all patients who this may affect that are booked in for surgery.
March 17 Coco Ruby Clinic Status Update
Over the last few weeks, Coronavirus CoVid19 cases have increased worldwide. This has caused unrest and uncertainty for some of our patients concerned that this could affect us as well as their surgeries.
We want to assure all our patients, both current and future, that we are operating as normal and all procedures will go ahead as planned. While the virus is concerning, there is no need to worry about it impacting on your surgical procedures.
We are living in unprecedented and challenging times, with the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19. We want to share with you what we at Coco Ruby are doing to protect our staff and patients during this difficult time.
While the health and safety of our patients have always been a priority, it is now more important than ever and the situation is constantly evolving. We are following the advice of the Australian Government Department of Health, monitoring updates closely and implementing processes to keep you and our community safe.
At this time, it is still safe for you to attend our clinic and continue with any planned appointments and/or surgeries. If you have a surgery booked for a later date but would like to move your surgery forward, we do have some openings available. You can call our team on 1300 599 990 to discuss an earlier surgery date. We will continue to monitor the situation and alert you to any changes that may affect you. As a medical business, we already have strict hygiene protocols in place. However, given the current situation we are taking extra precautions and wanted to share with you what those precautions are;
- We have increased hand sanitiser stations around the clinic.
- We have created a gap between appointments to sanitise and disinfect all treatment equipment and consultation rooms.
- We have created larger gaps between chairs in the waiting area so patients are not sitting as close to one another (recommended 1.5m social distancing)
- All high touch/traffic areas are disinfected and sanitised frequently. This includes, but is not limited to; reception, reception area, coffee station, coffee tables, door handles, phones, bathrooms and treatment areas.
- We have provided disposable cups for beverages
- We have more signage urging all patients to wash and sanitise their hands.
While we are taking every precaution we can to not only minimise risk but continue to operate our business, we ask that you help us in our endeavour.
RECENT TRAVELLERS
As of Monday the 16th of March, anyone returning from overseas must self-quarantine for 14 days after entering the country. We request that you call us and reschedule if you have travelled since 1st February 2020.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Most people have probably read the below in some for over the recent weeks but we urge you to please take time to read the following;
